[What would you tell a government that promotes war, or that is somehow in favor of wars? What would you tell that government?]
I would ask those governments, what are you trying to do? If a war was already going on, I’d ask them to put their hand on their heart and recognize they are killing human beings. If they think wars are only between the armed forces and between armed individuals, they are wrong. Those who suffer the most in a war are civilians, and they don’t deserve to experience that firsthand, especially the children. Let them put their hand on their heart, think, and say, “This war shouldn’t be happening.” I’m speaking up so they don’t think they can do that in the future. A woman who was left over from the war in El Salvador begs them, implores them not to do it. They’d better create a heritage of happiness for children, and not one where they have to think about warplanes or soldiers. They can’t think war can be the future of a country. It is not.
