Let me tell you that not all soldiers were bad. There were good soldiers too. Sometimes they would come for tortillas and I would sell or give them some, or we would trade because sometimes they had cans and wanted to exchange them for tortillas. I didn’t have it in me to have a bad heart. Like they said there are people who did act differently, truly, We would tell them, "It isn't your fault, you are being ordered to do all this." That was after they’d been in Arcatao for a few days. Sometimes they’d come and stay for about 10 days or even more. But when we stayed at the bases we didn’t have the courage to see them, because then we knew they could kill us. So like I’m telling you, it’s not all of them. There are a lot of stories about how soldiers released a few guerillas. So on both sides there were good ones and there were bad ones. But it hasn’t been their fault because they were trained so they wouldn’t feel any mercy.
