[What led the population to organize?]

I think what led people [to organize] was poverty. We saw that the rich people looked down on poor people like garbage. If you went to the coffee harvest, they wouldn’t measure your coffee properly. They would steal from you, they would give you spoiled tortillas and beans. That’s when people began to mobilize, because they wanted to see a better world for everyone. They wanted a decent home, an environment where we could all be equal. But that wasn’t accomplished.
