At 5:00 we arrived at the camp we were staying at, near Portillo del Norte. We were going to leave with some comrades at 6:00. The planes were flying overhead. When we got to the hill, the planes were dropping paratroopers, for the invasion, and picking up casualties, too. The planes were landing troops all over, on the hill called La Mesa and another hill that we called Ernestina, where we were. Right on the hill, that’s where the Armed Forces landed. And as they were getting off the helicopters we shot at them, we were all mixed together. The soldiers and guerrilla were mixed together. The soldiers didn’t even fall because they were wearing so much gear. They were tied into the helicopters and they were already being shot at, because there were guerrilla here and guerrilla there, in the hills, and they were in the middle of the crossfire.
