That’s how I came back here to stay, participating in the community work to help people who didn’t have anything. Some of us already had our own pieces of land. We set aside 7 acres for those who didn’t have anything, for widows, elders. And we all worked together. Then, at the time of harvest, they told me,

"Take some corn for yourself so you can eat."

As well as that assistance, we began to get some supplies from Guarjila. Cars would arrive in Chalatenango with supplies and we would carry them up on our backs. Corn, rice, salt, lime, lard, soap, and we brought it to share with the whole community.
