When I was two years old—I don’t remember it, because I was barely two—they killed my two grandmothers. They killed them both at the same time. It was the civil guard who killed both grandmothers at once, in a house. They tortured and killed them.
[Why were they looking for them?]
Because my father and my aunts were part of the people who were organized, and they said to them “You women are guerrillas, so tell us where your family is! Where are your children? Why are you alone?” They tortured them. A cruel death. I think they raped one of my grandmothers because in the exhumation she was found without underwear. My mother says that she never went without underwear. They cut off their cheeks and everything. They skinned their faces. They impaled my other grandmother. It was a… terrible death.
