To me, historical memory is important. Why? What for? First, because we lived through this reality and if we forget, what is going to happen with new generations? And we need to leave a legacy for future generations. We need to tell them about what we lived through so they can struggle and this may never repeat itself. Of course a people who forgets their history will ensure that it happens again. I don’t want anyone to have to repeat what I lived through, not my family, not anyone. That’s why I’m interested in the survival of memory. Because it’s we survivors who are making this effort.
