[Rosita, we were with you recently in Portillo, at the exhumation.]
Yes.
[Could you share with us a bit of your experience during those days?]
Well, it was very important for me, because during my childhood I never knew my grandparents, I knew nothing of my grandparents and I was sad because I didn’t have them. But I was also happy, you know, because even though it’s just their bones, their clothing, I would be able to see a part of them, and to bring them back here, right, to be able to give them the burial they deserve. Because the truth is after they were killed, they brought them from the village of El Sitio to El Portillo. They buried them on the hill just in the dirt, wrapped in tarp. This is not what a person truly needs, they have the right to a dignified burial, right, not just a hole. So it was a very important experience for us. It was very, very wonderful to share that with all of you and with the families of the rest of the people who were being exhumed. You know, it was a wonderful experience to share.
