I remember once my mother found a bit of sorghum, and she mixed it with wild fruit and made tortillas. I said to her, “Mommy, I don’t like it, I don’t want any,” because when I ate it I felt like it made my throat sore.
So there are things, when you’re a kid, you don’t know why you are suffering, but there are things you can’t eat even if you are very hungry. At that time it was just to satisfy your stomach, to calm your stomach a bit. But...it is very difficult to go 22 days without eating, in a bunker.
